A bit of history on how we got interested in anime. We
have been watching anime on and off since we were kids, with 8 Man and
Speed Racer. Then we attempted to watch this weird show called Dragonball Z. What little we saw consisted of a bunch of guys standing around, sweating and glaring at each other. Then we saw the stare of each character from a bunch of different angles. After two minutes of just seeing sweaty, glaring faces we got bored, turned the channel and wondered, what does anyone see in THAT? How can this be popular? The only reason why Dragonball Z got a second chance was pure fate. One day bakayaro onna was home sick, had the TV on and ran into Dragonball Z again, but this time it was different. This tall guy wearing orange was trying to get this short blue guy to laugh. Then the tall guy had to chase this monkey around a tiny planet and the tiny planet's gravity was really heavy. It was FUNNY! This was the same show? That night bakayaro onna told the Rat about it and he agreed it sounded entertaining. So Rat began timeshifting and watching it without bakayaro onna knowing. One day bakayaro onna walked through while Rat was watching and saw this guy with yellow hair, this glow thing surrounding his body, slightly hunched over and yelling contiuously like he was in great pain. What the hell was this show? Rat said it was Dragonball Z. Huh? First sweaty glares, then humour, then yelling? Weird, thought bakayaro onna, and left the room. So for a while bakayaro onna would pass the TV, look at yelling blonds, shake her head, and move on. Soon after, Cartoon Network stopped showing it all together. We forgot all about the show until one late evening in August 2001, when trying to escape some serious TV, we ran into Dragonball Z again. This time the tall orange-clad guy, the blue guy and the monkey were all dead and walking on this road looking like a snake. It was funny, so we stayed. And we got hooked. And bakayaro onna turned into a rabid otaku. And
that's how we got interested in anime.
